4 Quick And Easy Ways To Curl Your Hair Without Heat In 5 Minutes

We all want voluminous, shiny curls, but usually don’t have ample time to make them on our own. At the same time, using heat to achieve curls can be damaging to our tresses. Is there an easy heat-free way to make beautiful curls in less than 5 minutes? As it turns out, there is. In fact, there are a couple of them.

We’ve rounded up the top four ways to get those waves on your own in just 5 minutes – because hey, who has one hour to spend curling their hair with curling wand or iron every morning?

1. The Headband Trick (5 minutes)

Did you know that a simple headband can help you create bouncy curls within no time? This method works better when you leave it in your hair overnight, but it’s still good for a quick fix in the morning. There are specific styling headbands for sale. But you can also use a regular headband. Here’s how:

  1. Wash your hair well and allow it to dry till it feels damp. Alternatively, you can run wet hands through your hair to make them damp. You might have to repeat this a few times to achieve the required level of dampness
  2. Next, put the headband on your head such that it is in the mid-section of your forehead
  3. Now, part your hair into several sections then wrap each of the sections around the headband
  4. Leave it to rest for 5 minutes. We want to ensure it is completely dry before unwrapping it
  5. Unwrap your hair from the headband and use your fingers to comb through. Do not use a brush.
  6. Finally, use a spray to keep the curls intact for a longer time.

2. Pin Curl Clips (4 minutes)

Pin curl clips create pretty tight curls. There’s a bit of a learning curve, but once you “pin it down” you can have your hair curled in no time. Here’s how:

  1. Wash your hair and give it some time to dry till it feels damp. Or you can run wet fingers through the hair 4 to 5 times to make it damp.
  2. Use curl shaping conditioner to make the curling process faster. Regular hair gel can work too.
  3. Part your hair into 5 to 8 sections depending on how you want the curls to turn out (fewer sections means less curls and vice versa)
  4. Begin with the sections at the front. Take one and wrap it around your finger to create a loop. Take the pin curl clip and fasten it around the loop then attach it to the rest of the hair.
  5. Do this for all the other sections. You don’t have to worry about the loops being the same size. They’ll still look lovely anyway.
  6. Wait for the hair to dry and remove the pin curl clips. Toss your hair to the back and enjoy your beautiful curls.

3. French Braid Waves (5 minutes)

This is a hair curling method that has been around for decades. It works best when used overnight but can also be used to create wonderful curls within minutes. Here’s how:

  1. Start by making your hair damp using the methods we have described above
  2. Apply curl shaping conditioner or regular hair gel to make the curling process easier
  3. Divide your hair into sections. If you want tighter curls, create more sections. If you want bigger curls, create fewer sections.
  4. Plait your hair into a French braid then tie the ends with a band and use hairspray to keep the braid intact.
  5. Wait for around 5 minutes then undo the braids.
  6. Voila! Your curly waves are ready to bounce.

4. Just Your Fingers (4 minutes)

If your hair is a little wavy, you can create bouncy curls in minutes without using any heat. You just need your fingers. Sounds easy right? Here’s how:

  1. Start by making your hair damp using the methods we have described above
  2. Divide your hair into several sections. Make sure that they’re not too small. About 8 to 10 sections are enough.
  3. Take one section and wrap the ends of your hair into your fingers while twisting in an anti-clockwise direction
  4. Do the same to all the other sections, then use hairspray to keep them intact.
  5. Leave them twisted for about 5 minutes to give the hair some time to dry
  6. Toss the back and forth several times instead of using your fingers to untwist. This way, you won’t undo the curls.

Tips for perfect bouncy curls

  • Your hair should be damp but not wet. So if you are just from the shower, allow it to air dry for a while before twisting.
  • The dryer your hair is before you undo the twists, the wavier your hair will be and the longer it will last.
  • If you don’t have enough time to curl your hair in the morning, you can set the curls at night and allow them to stay in overnight.
